Let There Be Light

On Heavens Shore

Dreary day and cloud filled skies.

Spectrums muted with tired sighs.

Cold hues of grey all singing one note.

In monotone hushes the waves spoke.

Contentment dribbled from my satisfied heart

From the sand to my bed from daylight I depart.

But Wait! What flicker beyond the great shore.

A kindness glows…I must see if there is more.

The King of the skies must have decreed,

“Let there be light” for his kiddos to see.

Not in black and white, but in living color,

The heavens vast choir now sing of his splendor.

The fiery hue spreads like brush set ablaze.

It sprawls and it stretches like when a baby awakes.

A solo sprinter with cords of color in tow,

Races west to east, to wrap the earth in a bow.

Droplets of rain glance off the bands of light,

revealing two arches of promise, oh my soul delight.

His children below like ants on the ground,

Laughing, dancing, and twirling around.

The question is do I look left or do I look right.

The whole sky infused with celestial delight.

We scarce can take it in, but we do try.

Contentment to overflow, abundant supply.

Healing rises on the wings of the sun.

Like a calf loosed from the fold, we all run

Beneath a gift, a wonder we cannot explain.

Our hearts beat for “home” for heaven they train.

Even one day this sky will be put to shame,

when wrapped in light we see the face

of the name that is above all names.
